The Cushing Elementary Academic Excellence award was presented to students who made the Bearkat Honor Roll each six weeks and maintained a 93 or better average in all subjects for the school year. First through
fifth grade students
competed in the Elementary Talent Show as a junior high
fundraiser. There were 14 acts altogether. First place went to D. Ferguson, 2nd grader, who sang a Hank Williams Jr. song a cappella. Second place went to C. Simmons and K. Arnold, singing and acting out Never Underestimate a Girl. Cl. Knoll, Ch.Knoll, K.l Branton, and B. Matlock took third place with their "Guitarzan" skit. |

![]() Carl the Dog visited the Cushing ISD Library on Friday, May 11. Carl is the subject of more than a dozen children's books by Alexandra Day that classes have been reading in the library with Mrs. Poskey. Carl and his owner, Betty Ann Taylor, entertained Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade classes. Carl has been featured in the books "Good Dog Carl", "Carl Goes Shopping", "Carl Goes to Daycare" and many more. Carl has his own website: www.gooddogcarl.com |

Congratulations to the 5th and 6th grade
bands. The bands traveled to Sandy Lake Park in Dallas Wednesday,
where the combined group competed against 37 other junior high bands
from across the state. The Bearkat Junior High Band received a 1st Division score for their performance. This is the first time since 1999 that the Cushing Junior High Band has earned this rating. Great Job! |

The 2007 Academic
Excellence Banquet was held on April 3rd at the Fredonia
Hotel. Students from 6th through 12th grade were honored for
their academic achievements. All students maintained an average
of 93 or higher in all subjects for their last three semesters.
Class of 2007 students receiving the award: Christen Ivy, Candace
Howell, Stacey Plunkett, Kristen Rigsby,
and Aimee Trawick.

The
Cushing High School girls track team will advance to the Regional Track
meet at SFA on April 27-28. The girls finished strong at the District
21 and 22 Area Meet in Beckville. The 800 Meter Relay team comprised of Amber Smith, Veronica Tipps, April Smith and Bre'Anna Loftis took first place, beating their own record time. The same four girls finished second in the 400 Meter Relay, missing first place by 0.04 seconds. Veronica Tipps finished 2nd in the 100 meter and Bre'Anna Loftis finished 4th in the 200 meter. Brooklee Raney finished 4th in the discus. All runners ran their fastest times of the year. Good luck at the Regional Meet, girls! |

The Cushing
Bearkat Varsity Track team recently completed the regular season
at the District 22-A Track Meet in Beckville. Jeremy Curry came
home as District 22-A Pole Vault Champion with a vault of 11'
6". Jeremy won the Area meet on April 12th in Beckville and will represent Cushing at the Regional Meet at Stephen F. Austin University April 27-28. Congratulations, Jeremy on your District & Area Championship! |
ParentConnection - a new way to
keep up with your students' grades - is now available.
CISD parents can now view their students' grades online. Please note: Student information
will be kept private. Parents will only be able to view the
grades for students for which they have legal guardianship.
Parents will not be able to see any student's grades other than their
own. The only access will be through a private login name and
password that will be provided to applicants who have been verified as
legal guardians. You can gain online access to your child's
grades by completing and signing the ParentConnection
form and returning it to the
campus secretary. Forms can be faxed to 936-326-4131.
Printed copies of the form are also available in the campus offices.
You will receive your login information in 6-10 business days from the
date you turned in the form. If you have any questions please
feel free to contact the campus principal.
