On Monday, May
15th, students in the Life Skills class enjoyed a trip to the Caldwell
Zoo. They had fun listening to the penguins, which make a
braying sound like a donkey. They also enjoyed feeding parakeets
in the Wild Bird Walkabout. The students used money they raised working in the Kat's Kafe to purchase zoo tickets and lunch. They would like to thank everyone who joined us for lunch this year. More photos> |

Recently, 9-year-old Charisma led her schoolmates on an awareness march around the Cushing track to support the Arthritis Foundation as the Cushing Band played and others cheered. This mini-march was especially meaningful to Charisma, as she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis when she was five. Her classmates are helping to raise money to begin an Arthritis Chapter in Nacogdoches County. Charisma walked again on Saturday, May 9th in a larger walk she and her mom, Neva, organized. Charisma is wearing an East Texas Hero banner awarded by KTRE for the work she does for the Arthritis Foundation. Read the KTRE news story. more photos> |
