The Cushing Band Boosters will sponsor two junior high and two high school students for the SFA Summer Band Camp.  Scholarships are valued at $220 each for a "commuter-lunch included" band camp.  Applicants should fill out the general scholarship application and submit a short essay on "What I Expect to Accomplish at Band Camp."


  The Cushing Band Boosters is also offering a college scholarship opportunity to Cushing High School graduating seniors who wish to apply.  Applicants should fill out the general scholarship application and must also submit a short essay on "How Band Has Helped Me During My High School Years."  The recipient(s) of the college scholarship(s) should be an outstanding band student planning to attend college and be in good standing in the school and in the band.  Academic grade averages should be 85 or higher in all courses combined for the four years of high school, and applicants must have been in band for at least two years to qualify.  The  scholarship is valued at $500 and is payable after the student provides proof of enrollment (e-bill) in college.    The scholarship pays $250 in the fall and $250 the following spring semester.  If unclaimed, it does not carry over to the next school year.

All applications should be turned in to the Cushing band director no later than April 28, 2008.

The Cushing Band Booster Club will purchase the instrument microphones needed for the Smart Music software.  To receive a microphone parents need to provide a copy of their receipt for the online purchase of a SmartMusic subscription.

The next Band Booster meeting is scheduled for April 28th at 6:30pm in the band hall.   All parents of band students are invited to attend.

 		Cushing ISD has purchased a subscription to SmartMusic.com.  The purchase allows band students to subscribe to  SmartMusic online for just $25.  If interested, please get the special code from the band director and then click this link to subscribe.  (Students sign up on the right-hand side of the page.) Once you are subscribed to SmartMusic, you can search for music for your particular instrument.  (See the Booster Club news below for more important information).
